Look, all I can say is I’m glad you allowed us to read this. It’s raw, it’s vulnerable, it’s brutally honest, it’s compelling and once I started reading, I couldn’t stop. THIS is what Substack is for—to offer a place where people can write with this level of quality and brutal honesty, and where the rest of us can simply read and more fully appreciate the fact not a single one of us knows what anyone else is dealing with or going through.
Mr. Ninja does a really good job of portraying the hopelessness and powerlessness one feels when in these moments.
I'm not sure if this will mean anything to you, and I'm not going to grab you and yell IT'S NOT YOUR FAULT, Good Will Hunting style, but there's so little we can do to help addicts until they come to the conclusion that they want to get better.
Thanks man. It means a lot. All we can do is make sure there's a spot for them at the table when and if they realize they want the help, and let them know they're still people.
I will say if you're ever in the same position, or if you have been before, don't confuse someone not asking for help with not knowing. My bro knew. He couldn't talk about it around people because of the shame involved and there wasn't real help to be had. Shit was complicated.
Like Che said.

Thanks again.
