I've experienced this behaviour thousands of times.

You seem like a thoughtful person, but that ability is simply wasted on conversations with reprobates. I don't know why you felt the urge to continue, but I know exactly what steps need to be taken to make it stop.

1. Be extremely boring, also known as 'Grey Rock'

2. Be extremely incompetent, don't understand what they are saying, ask for clarification on simple words, use bad grammar etc.

3. Be a "conspiracy theorist". Explain how all politicians are lizard aliens and the earth is actually flat. Or invent some new and exciting nonsense.

4. Agree with everything, but add to it improv style: the so-called, "Yes, and..". It is impossible to argue with someone who agrees. You can also use this to create satire which then makes the interaction fun for you.

5. Don't take anything seriously, see it all as a theatrical production with various characters.

6. Mirroring, or in other words copy the behaviour presented. Some may start to sympathise and change their approach causing division. Sometimes an argument can break out among the former team.

Final point, you seem to defend democracy and even claim that there is not a paradox of tolerance/inclusiveness..

It should be fairly clear that if the voting public were made up of people just like the ones you interacted with that it would make for a hellish society. Democracy is not actually a good or bad thing, it is a flawed system that amplifies herd mentality.

Excessive inclusiveness does indeed lead to group collapse. If we believe in women's rights, but invite lots of arabic men to be a part of our group, we will very quickly lose women's rights.

Because they don't believe in it, they will act accordingly, and the nature of a group is defined by the behaviour of its members.

I wonder how you had the time and energy to feed your trolls so thoroughly.
